Meet the U1 Switch Series: Built for Smoothness, Sound & Diversity

At Akko, we’ve always believed that there is no single “perfect” switch—only the one that fits your preference. Over time, we’ve seen clear patterns in user feedback. Some enthusiasts love a crisp, clacky sound with sharp feedback. Others prefer a deeper, more muted tone with a smoother bottom-out.

So a new switch line up comes- U1. Built around the idea that diversity matters, the U1 series represents a new approach to linear switches—one that prioritizes smoothness, controlled sound, and true versatility.

What Makes the U1 Series Different?

Now there are 4 types of switches for the Akko U1 Series Switches- Creamy Yellow U1, Creamy Purple U1, Piano U1 and Crystal Silver U1. Each U1 model is engineered to deliver a distinct typing feel while maintaining a consistent level of smoothness, control, and overall refinement.

1. Designed for Smoother, More Consistent Keystrokes

Across the entire lineup, U1 switches are optimized to reduce friction and improve stability during keypresses. This results in a smoother and more predictable typing experience, regardless of switch type or internal structure.

Rather than relying heavily on post-modification, U1 switches are designed to feel refined right out of the box.

2. Focus on Controlled, Refined Acoustics

Instead of emphasizing extreme sound profiles, the U1 Series is tuned for more controlled and cohesive acoustics. Each switch is designed to produce a more focused and stable sound signature, avoiding excessive noise or inconsistency across different keys.

Importantly, while each model has its own acoustic character, the overall goal remains the same: a cleaner and more balanced typing experience.

3. More Reliable Across Different Builds

One of the biggest challenges with mechanical switches is how much they can vary depending on the keyboard. U1 switches are designed to perform more consistently across different setups, from entry-level boards to more advanced custom builds.

This reduces the need for trial-and-error and makes it easier to achieve a satisfying result without extensive tuning.

Creamy Yellow U1 Linear Switch

The first release in the U1 series builds on one of Akko’s most beloved switches. Creamy Yellow has long been a favorite among enthusiasts—and the U1 version refines it further with:

  • Cleaner acoustics
  • More focused bottom-out
  • Improved versatility across builds

And for those who prefer practicality over presentation, we’ve also made things simpler. Instead of the standard 45-piece pack, you can now choose a straightforward 100-piece value pack—no extra packaging, just what you need.

Creamy Purple U1 – For Tactile Enthusiasts

Tactile Force: 57±8gf

Designed for users who enjoy a pronounced tactile bump, the Creamy Purple U1 features a shorter 3.2mm total travel for a more immediate and responsive typing experience.

Built with a POM stem and PA66 housing, it delivers smooth tactile feedback while maintaining excellent precision and control with every keystroke.

Piano U1 – Linear Switch

Featuring a PC top housing and LY stem, the Piano U1 offers a clean, bright sound signature.

With an actuation force of 45±5gf, it provides a light, snappy rebound that feels responsive and effortless, making it ideal for users who appreciate crisp acoustics and a lively typing feel.

Crystal Silver U1 – Built for Speed

Actuation Force: 35±5gf

The lightest switch in the U1 lineup, Crystal Silver U1 is engineered for rapid inputs and competitive performance. Its ~1.0mm actuation point enables faster key registration, helping reduce reaction time in fast-paced scenarios.

Combined with an all-PC housing and PA12 stem, it delivers an exceptionally lightweight and smooth keypress, making it a strong choice for gaming and high-speed workflows.

Who Is U1 For?

Beginners

Conclusion: A New Direction for Switches

The U1 Series was never to replace V3 or V5, and it’s not a competition between generations. It was created with a simple goal: give every user the sound and feel they actually want.

Whether you prefer a bright, clacky response or a rich, deep thock, the U1 platform delivers distinct experiences without sacrificing the technology behind them.

One platform. Multiple personalities. Your choice.
